We are trying to automate the process of CR/CN daily reports to download to a network folder. Is there any way – Windchill can automatically download as an excel report of a custom report from query builder ?
How to download query builder report automatically or sent to specific email ?
Re: Failed to build part error - HELP please
When building part from CAD, the part must iterate. Therefore whoever is performing the build action must have modify permission on the latest version of part. Options are
1) Put the current part version into a state where you have modify permission. (set state / promote etc)
2) Create a new version of part at a different state where you have modify permission (revise)
3) Perform the build as admin
The state of the CAD model does not matter, as long as it is not checked out by somebody else during the build
Hide "Define Impact" on Variance
Anyone know how to not display the "Define Impact" on a Varaince (step 2)?
I am using a sub-type of Variance for users to request Test Builds for validations and I don't need this section.

Hey Venkata - how are you?
One approach to this - which we used extensively at Alcon and now starting to do similar at Edwards - is to set up Excel with the results of running the report once (e.g. nice column formatting, charts, pivot tables, etc.etc.then configure Excel to actually generate the report - which has the effect of simply refreshing the data. Works very nicely. I did a PTC conference presentation on this once.
Users love it - they simple click a link within the spreadsheet to get latest data at any time - with no needed formatting or other work after.
Here is one link on PTC: https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS162869&art_lang=en&posno=1&q=report%20from%20excel&ProductFamily=Windchill%7CWPA&source=search
Windchill 11.0 M020/30, Windows Server 2012 NTLMv2 issues
So I've been racking my brain since march, and literally no valuable help from PTC on this issue, but I need some input from the community at this point. We've had a case open with PTC for 68 days and still no fix...
Environment:
Windows Server 2012R2
Windchill 11.0 M020 (also tried with M030) OOTB
-Apache 2.4 (bundled version)
Server (& AD Domain Controller) has policies that require contact to AD/DC to be NTLMv2 only.
Certificates are properly imported into Keystore & to the TRCA on the machine
Followed CS62326.
This configuration works perfectly with our production environment Windows Server 2008R2 / WC 10.2 M030 / Apache 2.2.
I am racking my brain here....
Any of you using Server 2012R2 & WC 11.0 yet?
Jim

Re: Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2017-3629
I think this is only for Solaris 10 & 11, not the databases
Re: Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2017-3629
I know the second link is but what about the first link? Starting with the October 2013 Critical Patch Update, security fixes for Java SE are released under the normal Critical Patch Update schedule.

Is PDM Essential (Application server) is compatible with Microsoft Security Patch??Kindly suggest please..
Does Windchill PDMLink supports Active/Passive SQLServer Database connection? If so, what is the configuration from PDMLink?
Hello,
Does Windchill PDMLink supports Active/Passive SQLServer Database connection? If so, what is the configuration required from PDMLink?
Re: Failed to build part error - HELP please
For clarification. The ASSEMBLY I'm trying to build is IN-WORK. The error is related to the RELEASED part, but it already has a relationship built. Seems like that when I am trying to build the assembly it's trying to revise all the released parts also.
Windchill SQL Upgrade Question
When upgrading to SQL Server 2012, one of the steps is Full-text Upgrade. There are three options: Import, Rebuild and Reset. Can I use Reset, which deletes full-text catalogs or does Windchill use full-text catalogs so that I should choose one of the other options?
Re: Failed to build part error - HELP please
The intricacies of Windchill Part structures and building is quite hard to get your head around. It frustrates and confuses many here that's for sure. The related information is widely dispersed throughout the PTC documentation and hard to digest.
I think if you trigger the build operation either
- manually from the CAD Document (single level)
- manually from CAD/Part compare (single/multi level)
- automatically by checking in the CAD document (single level, according to related preference)
....it will attempt to build part again, and it will fail if you do not have modify permission on affected Windchill parts.
There will not be any attempt to automatically revise, but the build operation will need to iterate the part as it may need to update the "uses" information.
Generally once you release the part, that would put end to any more building at that part revision. Which makes sense really as a build operation can completely change the definition of an assembly (adding and removing members, changing quantities etc) and the fact the part is released implies you don't expect/want more changes to structure at that revision. I'm assuming you need build as the released part structure is not what you expect? If you revise the part (in isolation without CAD) it will carry the CAD owner link from the prevision part revision, but the new revision should have a different state that allows you to modify (and build). After build, when part structure looks OK you can release the part.
If you don't want to revise the part, I would guess the only option is to build the part as admin, having permission to modify (and build) at any state.
Re: Failed to build part error - HELP please
This appears to be an isolated case. I have an assembly with multiple down components. Some of the released components come in fine, others do not. The down components are already built and related correctly.
I found a workaround, but it's not a good one. It should not try to iterate all the down components when you Build an Assembly, doesn't that defeat the purpose of having lots of standard components getting pulled into assemblies.
Re: Failed to build part error - HELP please
short check list
- The parent part is already in structure
- The parent part has "owner" link to CAD assembly
- All the lower models you expect to see in BOM are in the CAD assembly
- The latest version of all lower models are associated to a Windchill part with a link type that contributes to structure (owner, contributing image or image)
If the part is still not showing in structure
Check that the usage for missing lower part has not been manually removed from part structure (using the red minus button). Don't forget you can intentionally have models in CAD which do not show in part structure and parts in structure that are not in CAD assembly. Sometimes people remove usages by accident or simply forget they did it.
Using "managed deleted occurrence" you have the option to undelete deleted uses
Data Migration
We are migrating data from ProductCenter to Windchill (25 years of data). What kind of timeline should we be looking at to migrate? We do not have any CAD data in ProductCenter.
