WPA - Windchill Product analytics - Is there any Rehosting Procedure?

Hi, we are currently managing multiple WPA server instances and we are looking for the best way to consider a rehosting for creating a new server from another existing server.

 

This procedure (and a specific rehosting tool) exist with Windchill but does not seem to be available with WPA.

 

We would be interested to know if anyone can share any information related to WPA rehosting so that we can consider this activity on a regular basis on our side.

Is it possible to give access Change Request or Change Notice only to particular Context ?

Hello everyone

                           I have a doubt regarding email notification in projectlink

I have started project with auto execution mode:

when a project is started then i have observed following :

1. All activity and resource are getting their task when the project starts.

2. Owner of the activity is responsible for adding attachment to deliverable

3. Resource are only helping source to complete the activity

 

kindly tell me when the email is received by owner and resources. and can we customize email like adding some new things to email.

 

Also when i start project in Manual execution mode then there is no option to complete milestone, is it the default functionality of project link, because when i start project in auto execution mode then i am getting option to complete milestone.

 

 

please help me out to resolve the issues

PSM/UEM Custom All-In-One Dashboard for Monitoring a Windchill Cluster?

We are currently using PSM and UEM with WNC 10.2 (and soon WNC 11.0).

 

Current OOTB dashboards are quite specialized and we are looking for a one only dashboard that could present major information to system administrators (CPU, Memory, JVM, Vaults, ...)

 

We are wondering if anyone has already customized one single dashboard presenting all useful information for system administrators in order to be able to monitor an entire Windchill Cluster including Replica, CAD Workers, ... and presenting Vaulting Information Alerts (in case thresholds are reached)

Deleting an attribute

A bit over a year ago we hired a brilliant company to configure our Windchill to the workflows etc. that we wanted. One thing we wanted was to do was map our parameters in Creo to Attributes in Windchill, so we could use them to search. So they created a bunch of attributes called MFG1_PN, MFG2_PN, MFG3_PN, MFG4_PN, which are supposed to be Data Type = String. But they accidentally made MFG3_PN "Boolean" data type.

 


When I log in a Admin and go to "Manage Global Attributes" I get all the listing as expected. But I can't edit the type from Boolean to String. I get that. I read it in the Help, so I understand why you couldn't be able to do that, it's totally different types of information. So I thought I could delete it and create it again as String data type. But nope, won't let me. I get this message:

(I should say I renamed it to "MFG3_PN_Obsolete", with the idea of creating a new attribute with the same name but String.)

 

Okay, what do I do? I believe there isn't a single Creo object in our database that has a value for this mapped parameter in it. The parameter is there, just empty. Some of our people have had trouble checking in objects because Boolean ain't a string. Even though the parameter is, as I said, empty.

Attribute popup help/explanation

Hi,

I am looking for someone who can help me to find out how to add popup help for the attributes in Windchill. When user create parts or document there are plenty of mandatory attributes that requires description and explanation.

It is possible to describe attribute by adding “Suggested Value List” to an attribute. But this information will ONLY be available if you add the wtpart to your workspace and checking out the object.

On the top of that, NO information will popup when user creates NEW wtparts or wtdocument. Anybody knows how to add attribute popup help in Windchill?

I don't know what a Layouts page is. I tried looking it up but I have no idea what they are talking about, sorry. FYI this 10.2.

Hi Mike

 

not many replies for your question.....

 

I will soon (hopefully) face a similar issue to have ePDM (actually PDM Professional) to PDMLink.  Our CAD files (solidworks) are not that mature nor the data have been managed in ePDM. One issue which has been bugging me is that ePDM was supposedly configured to accept duplication. That is

you can have PT123.sldprt in Folder F1  and PT123.sldprt in Folder F2

 

Obviously, and for very good reason, PDMLink will not like this.

 

My first thought was to rename one of the duplication, unfortunately it is not as trivial due to the lack of capabilities of ePDM. NUMBER does not exist. Well it does in the datacard but here again it is not unique.

 

If I rename one of the duplication, then the BOM will be having the wrong number since the BOM is created from the file.

 

The only way I can see it work is to actually modify all the assemblies using the duplicated files and replace them by the one we want to keep. This is also the cleanest approach. Unfortunately, this cannot be automated and since we have version control, It will means messing with the workflow and status to avoid an increment in the revision.

 

Nonetheless, only the latest version will be cleaned as the oldest will still be using the duplication but then renamed. Which means that the BOM from the oldest revision will be wrong if we ever need to view them (and on occasions we do)

 

I was wondering if within the Windchill community, anyone faced the same situation and what decision was made.

The layout page is where the attribute is defined for filling in the information. You may not have one directly in use as these are Creo mapped attributes.
When you do a Promotion Request or a Change Request, the screens that you fill out are generated from the attribute layout information.

Tom's CS article has some good links to get into the layout information.

Your customizer may have included your mapped attributes on a layout page, or on a default page by the system, and will need to be removed from there before the attribute itself may be deleted.

Maybe someone can create some screen shots to show what is happening and how to get there. My system contains classified data and I cannot do it.

Finally had a chance to test this and it works just like Ben describes.  My only hang up was I started looking in the Change Notice Workflow not the Change Activity Workflow.

 

However, if you want to set a deadline for the default Audit task, you will need to modify the Change Notice Workflow.

 

Change Activity Workflow:

  • Change Notice Tasks
  • Review Tasks

Change Notice Workflow:

  • Audit Task

From the screenshot, it looks like you are deleting a global attribute and the global attribute is used in mapped to one of the attributes assigned to a type. If you are trying to delete the attribute from a specific type say, wtdocument, navigate to that type from Type and Attribute Manager and search for the attribute from the list and delete it. Remember, this will delete the attribute and its values from all your existing objects.

You can control this using Access Control Policies. Depending on how your ACLs are configured, you can add/remove access control policies from Utilities > Policy Administration

What you can do is create a publishing rule to publish drawings to pdf files and models to step and upload them as a wtdocument and build published content link  between the original epm documents and published files. Even though this sounds complicated the configuration is easy.

 

From visualization configuration in utilities, create a configuration and upload the publish rule. Publish rule looks something like the below. Below is a publish rule which I have to publish the drawings to pdf, then the delegate creates a document of the type - com.ptc.PublishedContent(we have this subtype created), the name of the file is same as drawing name, lifecycle template basic, lifecycle state released, and the file is created in a folder called published contents(again you have  to create a folder by this name) .

If you republish a drawing with this publish rule, it will create a pdf as wtdocument. For the packages, if you have the collector set to collect the published content, it will collect the pdfs and steps too.

Hi Every one,

 

Can you some tell me the reason for not having the View attribute for editable in the "Edit" Layout.

 

I know it is available as a separate option from the action menu. Why should we not have it under "Checkout and Edit attributes" or "Edit common attributes"

For a Part, how to set the Default Downstream Location i.e. Folder Location where the Downstream view is to be created

Folder structure for our product:
Design

Manufacturing

 

Design Engineer creates part in Design Folder.

MBOM Creator open the part in Manufacturing Associate Part Structure Browser (MPSAB) and then creates a New Downstream Branch of the part. The default location for this is /Default of the Product which can be changed manually by browsing to required location.

We want to change this Default location to /Default/Manufacturing.

Please suggest steps.
