With Windchill Essentials, are you able to access the Windchill desktop? Assuming not if it's hosted by PTC.

No, to rehost you have to have access to the actual Windchill installation - along with the database (Oracle or SQL Server).

Yes, we're a small company and I am the full Windchill admin on that as well. So, full access to the Windchill server.

Been trying with VM's to export/import SQL almost gotten it to work on a few machines but no dice quite yet.

Is Windchill Essentials hosted on your own computers in your server room or is it hosted over the web from a PTC contracted server?

You should contact PTC Tech Support and find out why Windchill Essentials does not have access to the Rehost Utility.

I go to the same downloads page and see the rehost utility - so somehow the contract w/PTC has excluded it from download. Seems that you'll need to work it thru your VAR.

I did. I had a ticket open for 2 weeks and finally gave up on them. They kept coming back with "we're discussing it".

To extract the part number, you can use getNumber() API call.

If you delete workitems you can report on completed tasks via audit events such as the WfVotingEventAudit object. However with the WorkItem gone you have to get creative if you want a QML report that connects WfVotongEventAudit back to the Promotion targets. You can no longer use the links in the image below. It is possible though.

The only downside in keeping (to my knowledge) is that you have to manage your assignments table views to filter some or all completed tasks. Untill you are comfortable with the consiquences I would consider to keep them. Once you delete them I doubt you can get them back.

As Mike points out you should not have to delete them in order to hide them from view.

Specifically, I want to create a shortcut that resides outside of PDMLink such that then when a user clicks on it it will:

Open WC, and request to log in if not already logged in (I know how to do this aspect to any location in Windchill)
Start a Change Notice (or a document)

I am primarily asking for Change Notices, however, if it can also be done for initiating new documents, or other types of objects in in PDMLink (Such as Change Requests, etc) that would be useful to.

Does anyone know how to create this shortcut in Windchill?

Documents here are pdf, word and not CAD docs.

We have custom Engineering specs document template, which is a pdf and looking to have auto association created for these pdf with wt part

Can this then be used to create a Link outside of PDMLink? My purpose is I'm working on a Gantt chart type workflow with steps being hyperlinks to start whatever task it is. This document is just an office document/workbook outside of PDMLink with hyperlinks.

Certain ones may also be turned into mapkeys. While other people may prefer to use desktop icons (or favorite shortcuts) for certain tasks. When I have worked with people I have found that everyone really likes their own method.

Issue Resolved

Create New profile for View and Print and Assign that Profile to the Respective Participants. or Create Profile for Guest Role, Disable Download As Primary Action.
