I have datasheets and request emails to attach to parts, hundreds at a time.

I don't want to use the commandline (NMLoader) method, although i have in the past, one reason is that it leaves no traces (iterations).

Is there a way to use ImportSheetType=Document, can I see an example please?

I have been creating parts using Import From Spreadsheet, that works well most of the time.

Windchill is one giant Java application.  The whole thing is using Java.  It is certified with certain updates of Java but that doesn't mean it won't work with other updates, but you will probably be on your own if you run into issues.  Keep in mind as well that Windchill comes bundled with it's own version of Java and, unless you tell it otherwise, it will use it's own bundled version exclusively and ignore anything else that might be installed on the system.

Tom is correct that Windchill at the server level is all Java, but I think Mark means the javascript stuff that runs on the client.

 

There are still a lot of the Admin functions (like vaulting rules) that still use the JavaScript.   It would be interesting to see the list of what is still pending, and a which release it will be mitigated.

That's exactly what I'm looking for,  Would be nice just to have to worry about Java versions on user PC's.

Are you talking about creating a Custom Business Rule or configuring an OOTB Business Rule?

This is usually controlled by runFullMakeJar=true option in bif.ant.properties file. Do you have this option included in this file? Paste you bif.ant and we can continue troubeshooting it.

Hans Schulze - today only loading Part, BOM, AVL/AML and Replacements are supported in the Excel Import/Export framework.

 

There is a partner Wincom Consulting that does have an Excel based loader for Documents.

I'm looking for exactly same thing. I'd like to report users x groups and looks like there is  no connection between the objects.

You have to use a query builder report (with a customized Java class) to have users and groups together.

 

I suggest you to join this group Reporting and also take a look at this document Resource for reporting

The Excel Import/Export will only operate on WTPart objects today.  This would not work

You can use a data utility to show a picker. There's a call that a picker with a DataUtility is official not supported, but in my opinion all the API is supported.

Jeffrey Zemsky what do you mean with "it's available in the Change Task wizard?" Does it work to add an attribute to the ChangeRecord2 Link and we can add it to the view without all the customization?
