Re: CAD Worker stealing Intralink License

Sorry, that's an error on my part. We have Windchill 10.2 along with Pro/Intralink 10.2 Single-Site.

It's my understanding that CAD worker and the Windchill server point to a common file system that they can both reach, as per the worker configuration server side, and this is the mechanism that the Windchill server uses to transfer files back and forth. Why would it need an Intralink license if the server moves the files to and from a local directory on the worker?

WorkerConfig.PNG

Worker tests complete successfully:

WorkerTest.PNGWorkerTestLic.PNG

If you notice, about a half hour before my test, the Vis server (PTCVIS) rapidly checks the Intralink license and and out multiple times.

They are starting to phase out perpetual licenses though.  They no longer sell the View-Print licenses.  The only way I can get more is to buy the subscription based equivalent.  I could be wrong, but I thought that Navigate runs off of subscription only, or at least that is the only pricing model that I have seen.  It interests me, but the pricing model kind of kills it for me.

I am looking at using Publishing rules to create a Published Delegate!

I can see a link from the wtDocument (delegate) to the Dynamic Document called Related Representables and from the Dynamic back to the wtDocument called Published Content.

What I need to know is if it's possible to control the version between the Dynamic Document and the delegate wtDocument?

This support page

Seems to indicate that if the delegate wtDocument will need to be revised with the Dynamic Document together to keep the same Version.

If you are in SQL, you can go the table through SQL Server Management Studio and select the top 1000 from the WtUpgInst_Installation table, and it will be the ID# that is the last one in the list.

Hi

This PTC solution works perfectly for me.

Document - CS93721

https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS93721&art_lang=en&posno=2&q=search%20subscription&source=sear…

The Notification Subscription type should be added using the following steps:

  1. Set the following properties using xconfmanager in Windchill Shell to update the file codebase/com/ptc/windchill/enterprise/search/server/SearchableTypes.properties

xconfmanager -s ProjectLink.allSearch.17=wt.notify.NotificationSubscription -t codebase/com/ptc/windchill/enterprise/search/server/SearchableTypes.properties -pxconfmanager -s WindchillPDM.allSearch.18=wt.notify.NotificationSubscription -t codebase/com/ptc/windchill/enterprise/search/server/SearchableTypes.properties -pxconfmanager -s PDMLink.allSearch.19=wt.notify.NotificationSubscription -t codebase/com/ptc/windchill/enterprise/search/server/SearchableTypes.properties -p

  1. Restart Windchill
  2. Navigate to Site > Utilities > Preference Manager > Search > All Applicable Object Types Search
  3. Add WCTYPE|wt.notify.NotificationSubscription to the values list of All Applicable Object Types Search preference
  4. Execute the Advance Search

Navigate subscriptions are available with a "daily user license".  They don't have to be locked to a named user.  This can be cost effective for licensing a large group of occasional users with only a few licenses.

This question is from a customer, would windchill consider to support resume file upload in the future if encounter failure when creating/editng a object?

Customer is frequently upload large size file along with documents created in Windchill, some of them may lager than 1G, and they are asking if windchill consider to support resume a file upload if one encounter failure, network shortage for example, in the future?

Do you know how "daily user licenses" work?

Take a look at attached document.

Can we control replication site and master site document entity synchronization according to windchill basic configuration ?

Overseas deployment of a copy of the site, and overseas documents need to return to Shenzhen, but some of the control of the document entity can not be returned, Windchill existing mechanisms can be configured to solve ?(Master fileserver?) Trouble to provide a solution, our Windchill version is 10 M020

Hi,

Thanks for your valuable reply. Actually i did not deleted the sub types and never changed the Policy Administration of this sub types.

Actually i can able to create the CAD document of my sub types. But in Type and Attribute Manager i could not able to see the sub types of CAD Documents which i had created previously. I checked with Instantiable value of CAD Documents that I given as Yes.

Now i want to add some more Attribute to the Sub types which i created. If i expand the CAD Documents its not showing any sub types.

I don't know about it.

Re: Removing Instances from Family Tables that are in Windchill

I haven't done that for a long time, but

In WC 9.1,   we have a particular method that allow to remove a PRT from the familly table and transform it as a "standalone" classic PRT EPMDocument

To allow assemblies working well , without using the last version of generic that does not contain anymore the PRT as instance

something like:

download the Full FT in the Workspace

Open the instance in Creo session  (important to have the instance in session)

Open the Generic in Creo session

activate the Generic and remove the instance and save

activate the instance and save it.

should be now a standalone classic PRT

Windchill keep history iteration so we can see that old itérations are instances.

and if get old assemblies "as_stored", get the instances, not the last standalone PRT

Don't know is still work in 10.2 or 11....

Correct. We use WC 10.1 and this still works. We usually use this method to make the obsolete instances standalone.

So ideally the entire family table along with the drawing will be revised together to the next revision before making the instance standalone.

Re: Removing Instances from Family Tables that are in Windchill

To piggy back on Greg Perasso comments about making instances standalone........We have tons of legacy family table data, especially with all types of fasteners, fittings, clamps, etc, etc.

But a lot of the instances are at different revisions.  We do have them all in a library context which is read only so the users cannot modify the family tables.  But we have begun to associate CAD docs to wtpart for CAD driven purposes.  Family Tables, Windchill and CAD driven BOM can be a headache at times.

So, we decided to strip the instances from the family tables on an as needed basis.  This is a slick way so all instances will become stand a lone and the assemblies they belong to will not fail.

As an admin.........

  • get the whole family table generic and instances into your workspace.
  • Modify the whole family table, verify all instances.  Save.  Make sure whole family table generic and instances are modified.
  • Now this is very important, bring in the instances you want to strip out (make standalone) into session.  One or more.
  • Then delete those particular instances out of family table generic table.  Save the generic.
  • Look at workspace, you will see those particular instances will not have the instance symbol next to it, it is now stand a lone.
  • Check in the whole family table generic, instances and those stand a lone parts.

Now, all assemblies in Windchill will have stand a lone parts in their assemblies, not instances.

One downside, if those family table files were in other workspaces, it will not let you update those components in your workspaces, PTC confirmed this. Here are some options........

  • Option 1 (best method): save work, erase all out of session, then within the workspace, delete all the out of date family table generic and instances (use family table collector to gather all generics and instances), then select all components in the workspace and update all components.  Workspace detects the missing components from the assemblies and the update function will add all needed missing components back into the workspace.
  • Option 2: save work, erase all out of session, delete all the out of date family table generic and instances out of workspace, add the deleted components back to workspace.
  • Option 3: Check in all modified and new items first.  Delete all items in workspace and add back in.
  • Option 4: Check in all modified and new items first.  Create new workspace and add all components.

How exactly did you integrate this between SolidWorks and the Creo View Adapters?

Brad, George and Al must be having a fit at this!

The family tables would have parts at different revision levels as they were not fully populated at the same time. There is nothing wrong with adding new members to a family table at iteration 20. Just remember that the users will need to sync their workspace to replace the iteration 15 file they have in order to get that new addition.

Where are you opening Type and Attribute Management from? Under Site > Utilities? Under Organization > Utilities? Do you see the same thing when you open from both of those places?
