We use ProjectLink & have a few WTDocs with workflows. These workflows are activities in the project. We want to have the task be completed in the project plan when the workflow is completed. Is this possible?
How to associate a WTDoc(with workflow) to a project task or activity in ProjectLink?
Re: How to enter Due Date in a Change Activity?
I am not able to checkin a part from Creo to Windchill
When I try to checkin a drawing from Creo. I get a failed event message stating the following
"
A security labels configuration error was detected. Report this issue to your administrator
"
I am quite new to windchill and is finding it difficult to comprehend the same.
The logs give me the below message
"The security label value 'abc' for label 'CORPORATE_PROPRIETARY' is undefined"
What am I missing?Please help
Re: I am not able to checkin a part from Creo to Windchill
You may have to add a drawing parameter for "CORPORATE_PROPRIETARY".
Try to add this parameter and checkin. Hopefully it will succeed.
Re: How to restrict OOTB document creation in create document wizard?
It is just a one-time thing, switching 80 soft types to instantiable. There are worse things in other areas of this software ... like Life Cycle Template Administrator. Is that still java? Or is it switched over to HTML now? I bet you can switch all 80 soft types to instantiable quicker than you can open Life Cycle Template Administrator in its old java applet form.

Very cool, Robert. I have never seen that before. Thanks for sharing.

I'm baffled that PTC still has indexing of drawings turned off by default - and that the example they give for enabling focuses on enabling for models (PRT, ASM), not for Drawings. Who wants to have models returned for an index search?
What about those that don't use drawings but use MBD? For most assemblies we have done away with drawings and put notes in the assembly models.
Re: Solr Indexing with PDMLink 11.0 M020
Good point - I stand corrected.
Have you tested whether index search finds text in 3D model notes? Hope so.
Re: Solr Indexing with PDMLink 11.0 M020
Not lately. It seems that something isn't right because it isn't coming up with anything notes in 3D models. I thought it was working a while ago, but now I'm not sure. Guess I'll be opening a tech support call.
Re: Rehosting an Additional JNDI Adapter with Windchill Rehost Utility 3.0 M010
With 3.0 M010 you don't need the mile long adapter attributes any more. The Rehost Utility will no longer erase everything if it's not there.
The only additional two properties I have are the username and password for the extra adapter:
target.ldap.username.com.<company_domain>.<adapter_name>=<ldap_user_cn>
target.ldap.password.com.<company_domain>.<adapter_name>=<ldap_user_password>
Keep in mind that if you run redundant server URLs, the Rehost Utility will mess them up and you will need to manually correct them in Windchill DS. (Just copy/paste that one line from before the Rehost to after.) https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS233326
Re: Where to create Access Control Rules? Context or Org?
I agree with Mike and Tom. We're just now going through and trying to untangle the mess of Product level access controls. We're also moving from Single-Org to Multi-Org which throws some other interesting wrenches in to the mix. If access is generally the same, Org level is the way to go. Shared teams also helps makes things easier to consolidate and control.
We limit our controls to essentially 3 "roles" not counting administrative access. Member, Guest, and Team Lead. Where Team lead only has the added ability to manage the team membership. We try to have no one in Product manager except administrative roles. Team roles (which are member by default) are then only used for workflows and as part of building a team roster.
The only way Product level access works is if each product manages themselves. Where product manager is basically a low-level Windchill admin like PTC hardcoded in the system. It is still not the best idea to have most of the ACL's defined at the product level. It could also work if you only have a handful of products and each one has unique requirements.
Unable to get my resulting objects to change state?
My primary business object changes state just fine but cannot get my resulting objects to change state. I done the instructions per CS124047, PTC Windchill help Change management transitions and refine and revise and still no luck getting the resulting objects to change state. Any ideas?
I have tried with all three lines, one each and the first two together.
Thanks advance
Ed
Finding new and updated files within a specified date range
We have our topics stored in several folders, based on the year of creation; however, a lot of the time our original topics need to be updated many months, or even years, later.
Is there a way to find topics that were modified or created within a specific date range?
*The search will need to span multiple libraries/contexts/products.
***Preferably, the result will be a compressed file with all new/updated dita topics or .htm files.
Thanks!

Re: Where to create Access Control Rules? Context or Org?
We also recommend to create the ACL on Organization level. This makes the administration a lot easier, especially if you have multiple context.
The only disadvantage is, that it's not possible to load ACL from CSV to Org. So you need to create some xml files or create it manually within the policy manager.
My best experience is also not to use deny rules. It's better to create 10 rules for each state rather to create one for all states and deny some other states.
I've created an utility to export the ACL to Excel and import it from there again. This would be something PTC should provide OOTB since the creation of the ACL is a really pain (also in the new policy manager in 11.0).
Re: Rehosting an Additional JNDI Adapter with Windchill Rehost Utility 3.0 M010
Hi Tom,
Thank you for the help, I really appreciate it!
One question, though - when you mention the redundant server URLs, do you mean the running the cluster environment or the multiple (different) Active Directory server URLs?
Thanks,
Alex Petronijevic
Re: Rehosting an Additional JNDI Adapter with Windchill Rehost Utility 3.0 M010
the multiple (different) Active Directory server URLs
This.

Re: PTC WGM fails to Install on Windows10 after CPS17 is applied, It says This (Win10) Client Platform not supported
I was trying to create a silent installer for CPS22 and was getting nowhere. Something in our security software is now preventing the complete download of the zip files from windchill, it stalls on the second file and never creates the two files needed for the silent install. Tom suggestion to get the files from the CSP bundle is spot on. However that doesn't resolve the issue of creating a silent installer. I have a copy from a previous deployment of the two files Windchill creates when you create a silent installer package inside of Windchill and after looking at them I see that there is nothing unique to the version, maintenance build, or CSP.
The silent.bat file looks like this. The only thing unique about it is the path where I told it to find the install files:
The silent.properties file look like this. Lines 3-8 are the choices I made in the web interface.
Both files are attached so you can edit them to suit your needs.
Also is a sample install script to do the installation on a client.
Here's the process I used to build the installer:
- Download the CSPxx bundle from PTC
- Extract it and then grab these two folders:
- PTC_Windchill_10.2_Workgroup_Managers\Client
- PTC_Windchill_10.2_Workgroup_Managers\installer_jres
- I then placed these two files into the Client folder:
- Silent.bat
- Silent.properties
- Make a .zip file with Client& installer_jres folders at the root level of the .zip
- Name of .zip is wwgm_m030-cps22.zip
I then use the install script on the client, to copy the zip file to the client, unzip it, do the install and clean up after itself. (you'll want to have a proper wgmclient.ini file to place on the client after the install is complete.)
The uninstall of the previous version is another matter entirely. I had to create a couple .msi's last time, it's looking like I'm going to need to do the same thing again.
