Re: What is diffrence between Load Base Data and Load Demo Data?

Based Data - this is mandatory data set required for all Windchill solutions. This includes all the out of the box templates - LCs, WFs, OIRs and all. This is required.

Demo data - This is a set of demo data includes a couple of test Windchill products, some demo CAD files loaded in a demo organization. This is not something which you load in a production system.

You can use the unlock/lock functions for update iterations of your objects in a promotion request.

But I have not tested it in the version 10.0.

Randy, thanks very much.  I'm still just learning to deal w/Java code like this.  What's the best / easiest way to execute in order to get a result like one would get either using a report or direct sql against the database?  Also, actually kind of need the reverse logic.  We updated all drawing formats recently (size B, C, D - Inch/mm, Creo Parametric / SolidWorks).  Wanting to see the "where-used" for each of the formats as users gradually replace format on existing drawings.

No idea from query builder, but this is what I use for SQL server:

select asStoredChildName from EPMReferenceLink where idA3A5 ='248028786'and referenceType ='DRAWING_FORMAT'  -- set idA3A5 == to idA2A2 of EPMDocument

Keep in mind that the Related Objects tab (and this query above) always show the latest version of the format.  If you want to know exactly which version of the format was used, you have to go at it differently.  (Multiple joins between the EMPAsStoredMember table and the EPMDocument table.)

This is getting closer

How can I now input the CAD Doc Numbers (or maybe the IDA2A2 of) each Format and have it return the Drawings on which it is referenced?

Sounds like a tough Monday. As some sort of prevention we have the Windchill service set up such that it is dependent on the particular MSSQL instance and so if the database instance goes missing Windchill service will shut down as well. I don't really know exactly how this is done, but if you manage to set it up then it might help.

We are running Windchill 10.2 M030 with MSSQL on Windows Server 2012 as the production server. We also got test server pointing to the second database instance on the production server, which makes things complicated when the test server needs to be updated/restored etc.

Thanks for pointing that out, Randy.

Right now i have no idea what a Xserver is and how that could help with building a docker image, but when the time comes i'll find out

I am just curious how a restart fixed the problem. Are you sharing your DB instance between test and production?

Can you pull a baseline report when you only have 2-D pdf drawings in your Product? Do you need to create

a report from the query generator?

I didn't know that its not possible to set the default value on this...Interesting.... I wonder if this applies to all modeled attributes or just this one? I have not personally tried to achieve this any other way, sorry I can't provide instructions.

You would need to load dedicated OIRs in every product container to differentiate the default value. This is somehow manageable.

As far as I remember you need to specify modeled attributes in a WT. Property which should be altered by the OIR. We have done this for the partstructureoverride attribute in the past.

How to configure FTP as distribution target for parts?

Hi,

I have created an FTP location in my local system and created a distribution target in Windchill. I have associated it to a part and when I'm trying to perform 'Send to Distribution Target', I'm getting the following warning with no objects in 'Included objects' list.

The object XXX being published does not have distribution targets assigned to it.

Also, I'm not able to see publishing status in UI.

Can you please help me in resolving this..

Thanks in advance!

We shutdown the two test servers, which are virtual environments on their own server.  Then the production SQL pointed back to the server it was located on with the path and name information correct.  No, we are not sharing the DB between test and production.  They are two separate servers, each with their own databases.  In this current environment, we have had it up and running this way since September 2015 and this is the first time this has ever happened.  For now we have the two test servers disconnected from the network to try and investigate to see if there were any changes on them.  All this happened after our maintenance plan ran on the production SQL database.

Thankfully Windchill wouldn't start because it couldn't connect to the correct database.  But you could see the tables for the test database from SQL Manager on the production server.  It was really slow and it didn't show them on the first time looking at the database.

Is there any way to find under which organization the container(Product, Liberary,etc.) is created

Hi All,

I am having PDMLink setup with multiple organization. It is very difficult to know under which organization we are currently. Is there any way to find under which organization the container(Product, Liberary,etc.) is created from the detail page of the container?

I know it is possible to get the details from the policy administration, But it is tedious.

Please let me know if there is any doubts;

Best Regards,

John Selvaraj
