Re: MPMLink Process Plan - Splitting QTYs during allocation

So what you guys are currently doing (using the above example) would be:

  1. Create downstream MFG view with a qty 4 of 401-158888.
  2. Using the structure tab of the mBOM you'll split up the qtys needed by changing from a QTY (4) to two QTY (2) - Uses tab?  I believe that you would need to remove a couple occurrences and add the part in the BOM again to achieve this.
  3. End goal would be
    1. 401-158888 (QTY 2)
    2. 401-158888 (QTY 2)

Yes exactly.

by "not managing occurrences", I mean that today , we use our mBOM only to feed our ERP.

So occurrences are deleted without taking care of the exact instances ... and we do not update occurrences on the mBOM after that.

Sounds like permissions were tightened or changed between 10.0 and 10.2.

Check the ACLs for released data. In my setup, a normal user can NOT check out, modify and check in released files, only an admin can.

Its not a normal user, its the responsible designer with supervisor rights.

I checked the ACL

Which right is missing?

Was there a change between the 10.0 and 10.2?

You can set Deny permission on Modify for WTPart, WTDocument and EPMDocument in Released  state for All users

Out of Sync Share

Hello,

I am working on project and shared few cad files from product to my project. Now I see Out of sync share error for shared files. I tried updating project folder and updating selected shares options, couldn't get rid of this. Any other ways to get latest files in my project?

We are working only with documents. If I set the Released for All user, is this than for supervisors, designers....

I need this only for supervisors, how can i set this?

Help! "Build Failed" WT Part Error

$

Hey all. I've got a big problem that has me completely perplexed. We just recently (last week) updated our Windchill to 11. This may or may not have something to do with this. Anyway, before the update a WT part was created and related to a Creo .prt. This part was used in several assemblies and WT part structures were built that included this part. No issues. Today, I tried to use it in a new assembly and when I went in the .asm info page, went to compare to part structure and clicked build structure I got the following error "Build Failed: Build cannot add the following children to the Part structure: "Part-12307, 2 TAB WELD NUT, A.4 (Design)" The associations between the CAD Document/Model Item and Parts were created incorrectly. Please contact your system administrator." I have absolutely no idea what to do. Like I said, this part has existed and been used in WT structure before. Now I'm completely stuck. Any help would be great. Thank you!

WVS publishin - SolidWorks - handling of suppressed objects

<<<Applies to you if you are using Windchill publishing with SolidWorks data >>>

(I still shudder every day about going over to the "dark side" of SW, but it's interesting and mainly from acquisitions - similar for many companies and life goes on)

Learned recently that the Creo View adapter on the CAD Worker behaves as follows (different from Creo Parametric publishing): If the recipe file is set to "Fail Publish for Missing Dependents=yes" then it fails every SW assembly / drawing for which any component is suppressed - including intentional suppression of SW configurations (handled as Windchill family table instances).

Because of this, we have no choice but to leave "Fail Publish for Missing Dependents=no."

PTC just published this article based on our tech support case: CS257786 https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?source=subscription&n=CS257786

So I'd like to create an Idea here suggesting that PTC change this to match Creo Parametric - allow Suppressed, but fail for actual missing dependents.

Just throwing this out for comment first.

thanks

I wonder if you could push back on this - maybe even escalate it up the food chain.  A "Suppressed" component is not the same as "missing dependent".  The second will cause failures.  The first will not.

I've rehosted a Windchill installation running on Windows Server succesfully at the end of the last year. The best way is to read the comments inside the rehost.properties file, if anything is unclear there, search the terms in the PDF rehost utility guide. I guess that linux just needs all paths to be defined with forward slashes instead of back slashes, but don't know for sure.

Definitely would like to have some feedback on this PTC product management responsible for publishing SolidWorks.  Agree that it's a relatively serious thing to group "Missing" with "Suppressed."

Ben: Very similar to Darren here. This particular customization is part of an in depth series of modifications that involve custom java classes, modifications to the Promotion Request Workflow, and customizations to the Promotion Request Wizard.

We do these validations at time of creation of the Promotion Request which will prevent the promotion request from being created in the first place and also again during the Promotion Request workflow.

If you are interested in learning more about how to do this I would suggest you take a couple of Felco Solution's training courses:

FELCO Solutions

The 2 courses I have taken are: "Windchill Automation" and "Windchill Customization" These are fantastic courses to jump start your Windchill customization. The "Windchill Automation" class trains you on the Windchill java classes and how to use them. The "Windchill Customization" class trains you on how to customize the UI. One of the exercises in that class is adding a BRC (Business Rules Checker) custom tab to the Promotion Request wizard.

A unix environment such as Linux or Solaris uses X Windows for the display of windows. This means you can easily display application windows on remote displays by simply setting the DISPLAY to your local display or by ssh -X. All that is required is a local Xserver. If you are working locally on a Linux or Solaris workstation then you already have that. If you are on Windows then you need something that provides an Xserver in Windows.

One piece of software that does this is mobaXterm:

MobaXterm free Xserver and tabbed SSH client for Windows

Our Windchill server is running on Solaris and I have local access to both a Solaris workstation and a Windows laptop (with mobaXterm). Installing/updating Windchill works great displaying back to one of those.

Another good option is to fireup a session of Xvnc on the server and then view that locally with vncviewer.
