Re: Open PDF NOT in Creo View from Windchill

Files stored in Windchill as content generated by publishing machine are not stored as >PDF files. They are in Windchill as a .PVZ file which is supplemental data and the .PDF in an internal zipped format.

We store AutoCAD files and PDFs in Windchill with the PDF being primary and the DWG as an attachment. Wehen I click on the ODF it opens directly in Adobe, just like a Word file opens in Word.

I was very surprised at how fast NOT IN works - also something more to understand.

In any case, love being able to supply reports to people who request - relatively easy way to get very happy customers

External Enumerated Value List and NmCommandBean

$

Hello.

I am working on a customization.

I have my external enumerated value list customization on which I  pass a string as parameter (from the type and attribute management) to find a specific context.

This works fine, however I'd like to pass to the parameter, the context gathered from the "create window" via NmCommandBean.

Is this even possible?

I know I can get the context from a datautility, maybe is it possible to pass it to the external enumerated class?

Thank you for your help.

Antonio

Is the 3.4 server on a different domain?  If so, check to see if the domains are fully trusted.

I assume you're connecting to the remote site for convenience at this point.  You'd want both systems local, and if possible, on the same subnet when you actually do the migration.

There's a way to directly access to PDF from Windchill but it's kinda hidden in Windchill 10.1 M040. It requires several extra button clicks and is hard to train users to remember it's there. Seems like it be way simpler to just open a PDF by default (or even an option to set this or an additional button to open PDF) and remove the software compatibility issue. The PVZ portion is nice as I believe it provides the thumbnails in Windchill but the software compatibility issue is very annoying.

Nice workaround! It seems like it was be easier for PTC to have an option to open PDFs without Creo View if available.

This is what I have and it works if you know the folder structure.  Would like to know though how the recursive hierarchical query looks like.

select pm.wtpartnumber, pm.name, p.versionida2versioninfo, p.iterationida2iterationinfo, plp.namecontainerinfo, sf.name

from wtpart p, wtpartmaster pm,  subfolderlink sfl, subfolder sf, pdmlinkproduct plp

where pm.ida2a2=p.ida3masterreference and sfl.IDA3B5=p.ida3b2folderinginfo and sfl.ida3b5=sf.ida2a2 and pm.ida3containerreference=plp.ida2a2

order by pm.wtpartnumber, p.versionida2versioninfo, p.iterationida2iterationinfo;

Re: Supplier Management

Is there any mechanism that allows suppliers to get access to only "Supplier" contexts and nothing else in Windchill?

You can define a specific role for your suppliers on Site level (RoleRB.rbInfo).  This role should have its own access rights defined in the Policy Administration.  For each Context, you can assign the specific suppliers to that role.

The purpose is to allow access to only "Vendor Parts" that is tagged to the supplier.

On top of that, using the Security Label functionality, you can assign suppliers to each object individually.

Work around: in Where Used table select all Parts and add them to Workspace.  In your Workspace you can create an export to xls.

Hi Kumar,

do you know a working solution when there is an additional authentication required such as netscaler before accessing the pdm server?

it's fine for workgroup manager client using the embedded browser for authentication.

I'm struggling @ DTI with netscaler authentication.

Do you have any idea on this topic?

thanks Gerhard

1. Consider a Student database and you have one report which lists all the students

2. In order to export this report -> Go to the Export tab in the Ribbon

3. Select XML File option from the list and you will get a Export wizard as shown in the image below:

Step 1: In the first step you need to select the file path and file name.

Step 2: In the second step you select the information that you want to export. There are three options here: 1. Data (XML) 2. Schema (XSD) 3. Style (XSL). You need to select the appropriate options here. If you want to use the XML file in Excel, I would recommend you to select both option 1 (data) and option 2 (schema).

5. If you don’t have the XSD schema exported with XML file , you will get following message as a informational dialog.

Hi Gerhard,

Did you try this?

Navigate to the following directory:<Windchill>\codebase\com\ptc\windchill\enterprise\nativeapp\msoi\client\xml
Locate the following files:

wtDesktop.xml
wtOffice.xml
wtWindows.xml

In each file, replace the following line:<action serverAction="DTILogin" type="HTTP"></action>with<action serverAction="DTILogin" type="WIZARD"></action>

Binesh

How can I bulk remove users from windchill?

Can anyone tell me how can I bulk remove users from windchill 10.2 please?

I can only import 50 users in to the participant administration and I have to remove 1400+ disconnected users.

Is there a way that I can remove all disconnected users at once?

Thank you in advance for any guidance you can give.

If you are familiar with the database side, you can update the DB tables directly

  1. delete from RemoteObjectInfo where idA3A3=<idA2A2 from "select ida2a2 from wtuser where name like '%USERNAME%>;
  2. delete from OwningRepositoryLocalObject where idA3B5=<idA2A2 from "select ida2a2 from wtuser where name like '%USERNAME%>;
  3. Update WTUser set name=’{wt.org.wtuser:’ + CAST(idA2A2 as varchar) + ‘}’ + name, disabled=1, repairNeeded=0 where idA2A2=<"select ida2a2 from wtuser where name like '%USERNAME%>;

new state not available in life cycle template

Hi everyone,

I created a new state in windchill trough Windchill Shell : enumCustomize.

I can find this new state in the advanced search.

state.png

But I can't find this in the list within the life cycle template administration.

Does somebody know what I did wrong?

Thanks in advance

Open Windchill shell and execute command: ant -f codebase\Makejar.xml

Thanks Sergey, but I already did this:

  1. Stop the Method Server
  2. Rebuild the client jars from Windchill Shell : ant -f codebase\MakeJar.xml custUpdate
  3. Restart Windchill

And the result is what I mentioned in my first post.

Examples of Part "References Document" and Part "Described by" document

$

Hi all,

This is a fairly discussed topic, but I don't see good documentation and examples in PTC help on what is recommended for what type of documents.

Iam looking for examples on in what cases we should use the link "References Document" and in what cases we should use "Described by" document.

Recommended option for scenarios A,B,C and recommended option for Scenarios D, E ,F.

I see that usage of "References Document" is OOTB restricted to documents under the type "Reference Documents", but this could be overridden by a preference.

FYI. We are in WC 11.0 are getting close to working part centric.

Thanks!

Hari
