Re: Type: Other

I has changed the link.

With the CAD Document open in session, perform the following:

  •     File >  Save a Copy
  •     Select required file format in the Type drop down list
    •     Deselect the option Save new files to Model's CAD Document to save the file as independent file in Workspace
    •     Select it to store the file as attachment
  • One may use the config.pro option dm_save_as_attachment to control the setting of the option Save new files to Model's CAD Document

Sorry, the second image I added was not the right one.

How can I prevent someone from checking in a file where the category is "Other"?  Or is that not possible?

Not a complete solution, but ...

We allow importing of objects into the WS via the config option allow_import_file_extension sym, mat, txt, stp, igs, dip, dop, and so on.  If your users are using this option to import non-CAD objects into their WS, you may want to put the option in the config.sup file to prevent them from adding the objects in the first place.

When these files are imported into the WS, they show as "CAD Document" in the WS [when mousing over the object type indicator icon], and once checked into the CS, they show as simply "Other".  In both cases the icon is the same as you have shown.  If I show the information page for the object in the WS, it shows as "Other". If I recall correctly, in previous versions of Pro/Intralink (pre 10.2), the objects showed as "CAD Document Other" in the WS and CS, but I cannot confirm this.

I was not able to find that icon in the attribute manager, or the type "Other".

The "Other" is the "Document Category" attribute value of EPMDocument

Hi Windchillers,

Need your help for Windchill license compliance. I have developed custom report which list's out the last logins of the users from DB's Audit records. This is a query builder report. The aim is to disable all users who have not logged in to Windchill since last 6 months.

However i have noticed that if i dump a report of Groups (in DS) and the users in this groups (from AD) into an excel; there are  many users listed there which have been disabled in AD. Note that they are not disabled in Windchill but disabled in AD

QUESTION 1) . A login event is not generated by such users but notifications are being sent to them ; they being part of some group. Do such members consume Windchill License ?

QUESTION 2) How do you classify the audited user list as in 4 distinct roles, (Heavy user, Light user, View & Print user and External user) ? Windchill is licensed as per these roles.

QUESTION 3) How to best generate the compliance report and optimize license compliance ? What process do you follow to maintain accurate Windchill role count ?

Thanks,

Vaibhav

There is a reference to a ACEMPdocument in the template file and this file cannot be found. The person who initially setup Windchill here deleted almost all of his notes when we left and did not tell others how he set the system up. He was gone about a year before I arrived.

The lines are:

<AccessControlRule>

  <domainName>/Default</domainName>

  <externalTypeId>WCTYPE|wt.doc.WTDocument|com.usec.ACEMPdocument

</externalTypeId>

I have no idea what this document is referring to, but these statements are in the existing product template file 6 times.

There is another section that references com.usec.AnalysisDocument, later in the file. This may also give an error if I get the ACEMPdocument error fixed.

Do the Windhill 11 manuals do a better job of explaining this than the 10.0 ones and is the information still valid for 10.0?

You'll very likely see that Type using Type & Attribute Manager.  Select Document then expand below it.

Doesn't hurt to create the Product from this template - can delete the access control rule at any time.

CPS02 is available to download.

There is also a new PTC Windchill 11.0 Service Pack Datecode: M020-CPS02

Please note per the following per the Article

If you are not yet in production with 11.0 M020, you will need to restart any in-progress rehearsal upgrades with a fresh 11.0 M020 CPS02 target installation once available – updating existing 11.0 M020 target systems is not advised.

If you are already in production with 11.0 M020, you should not immediately update to CPS02.  A case should be opened first with Technical Support referring to article CS254456 to determine if any data validation or correction is required.

Jeff,

in a couple of weeks we will start a new fresh installation, on our dev server, of Windchill 11.0 M020 (now our production server is on 10.2 M030).

I have written my previous comment for other users because I haven't found any article where is written that in addition to a new CPS02 there is also a new Service Pack M020-CPS02.

Jeffrey Zemsky

What is the difference between the M020-CPS02 Service Pack and M020-CPS02 - Critical Patch Sets Bundles?  Do both need to be used for a fresh install?

Thank you,

Brian

Brian Toussaint I am working on getting a clarification of the two media.  But to be clear - you should restart your 11.0 M020 project with a clean install based upon CPS02. If you have a development environment based upon 11.0 M020 F000 or CPS01 that should be removed and restarted with a CPS02 based install.

How to add a new folder to the class path read by Windchill

Hello!

When starting Windchill looking in the logs there are classpaths listed as in below example:

2017-01-19 14:50:43,563 INFO  [main] wt.method.server.startup  - Class path =

  /ptc/Windchill/codebase

  /ptc/Windchill/codebase/WEB-INF/lib/jviews-chart-all.jar

  /ptc/Windchill/codebase/WEB-INF/lib/archiveServerWeb.jar

  /ptc/Windchill/codebase/WEB-INF/lib/prowtWeb.jar

...

Lets say I have a new jar-file that I would like to add but I don't want to put it under any known folder (codebase, WEB-INF/lib etc...) how would I do then?

Which file to modify?

Reason is that I don't want to mix OOTB jars with added ones since time will make it difficult to know which ones are OOTB and which ones are not.

Thanks for any assistance and best regards!

/Peter

This is my understanding

QUESTION 1) . A login event is not generated by such users but notifications are being sent to them ; they being part of some group. Do such members consume Windchill License ?

Yes, they do. If you have an active user in WTUser table, it is a license.

QUESTION 2) How do you classify the audited user list as in 4 distinct roles, (Heavy user, Light user, View & Print user and External user) ? Windchill is licensed as per these roles.

I am not able to make a sense of some of the definitions, but you can Refer to  https://support.ptc.com/support/customer_agreements/basis_files/jan-11/Licensing-Basis-en.pdf

QUESTION 3) How to best generate the compliance report and optimize license compliance ? What process do you follow to maintain accurate Windchill role count ?

Disable/Delete inactive/unused Windchill accounts. If you can't delete, put them in a group called inactive and deny the access from webserver.

I don't know of any "not known folders" to use however simply put your jar file in the following 2 "known" folders:

./lib

./codebase/WEB-INF/lib

and restart Windchill. I have done this since Windchill 9.1.

It is controlled by a WTProperty  > wt.java.classpath

This is read by SM, MS and Windchill shell

Hi Daniel.  They are not imported.  The user takes whatever object they are working on and save as to whatever format they need to the workspace.  Then they go to check all their files in and they don't realize they are checking that in too.

Sergey,

I assume that would a bad idea to remove it?
