This is regarding Windchill splash screen. I tried to get the custom message set on splash screen and it was successful. The thing here is that the custom message of login comes up only in IE and Firefox. My requirement is to get the same in chrome too.

Hi Jose

If you have the IBA "MC_VERIFIED" set on your EPMDocument in Type and Attribute Manager, you should try and delete it.

There is an issue with this attribute, which prevents the check in because it is set to No for some reason.

When this IBA is deleted, Windchill reads the Model_Check date properly and you can check in. (If there is no errors!)

Manged to do this with an example from PTC. However the example they gave was missing some critical details:

  <!-- set the number to a generated number

               </AttrValue> -->

<VarDef id="ESA" algorithm="wt.rule.algorithm.StringConstant">

</VarDef>

<AttrValue id="number" algorithm="wt.rule.algorithm.CaseBranch">

User disappeared from all groups

Today, one of our long-time users reported that after logging into Windchill, he was unable to find/list/view any Project, Library, or even his own workspaces (no cabinets at all).
Upon investigation, we discovered that he was no longer in any of the LDAP groups, which is how we assign access to anything.

After we re-added him to the normal groups, all was well again.

Only the one user was affected.

Anyone else ever run into this?

We are using Windchill Intralink 9.1 M060, and using Active Directory for authentication.

Our AD administrator says that the affected user's domain account has not been altered recently.

1. Create a workspace.

2. Use workspace Tools, Import - browse to and select the 3000 files

3. Select Next, not Finish.  The result (may take a while) will show a yellow triangle for all that are already in Windchill.  Select all those and then "Re-Use Existing."  Select to not bring the files to the workspace.

4. Select Finish - all new files come into the workspace.

5. All new objects will have an orange star.  Select all those and check in.  If problems, select Upload first.  If still problems select and process a sub set at a time.  May have to handle some naming conflicts - use Workspace Rename.

PTC Navigate and Windchill when both in SSL mode...

We are running Thingworx 7.1.2-b6 with Navigate 1.2.0 build 13 and Windchill 10.2 m020 CSP18.  We have recently made changes to our windchill environment.  We did a rename and conversion to SSL.  Before making this change Navigate and Windchill were working as expected.  Thingworx had been running in SSL mode prior to the windchill change.  After the windchill change I updated the SSO information and the windchill URL in the ptc-windchill-demo-thing.  I can login to Navigate just fine but when I do a search it reports it cannot find anything.  I have tried setting up the SSL Connection configuration in ptc-windchill-demo-thing and following CS247505.  Has anyone had this problem and solved it?  I also cannot find log files that would tell me what is going on.

Thanks,

Wayne

Re: Windchill - Oracle Integration Questions

We are purchasing and implementing Windchill, we are integrating Windchill to  our ERP system; Oracle 12.1.3

I'd be very interested to hear how the Oracle Integrartions have gone, what you learned, and what you use today for ERP integration.

Best regards,

Alan

We just had this issue and the problem is the PTC Windchill patch for ThingWorx does not put the filters in the web.xml file(under codebase\Web-Inf) in the proper order. This caused the user authentication info to get chopped up and not able to validate.

PTC Navigate and SiteMinder

We got Navigate and SSL working, but when we turn on SSO tool Siteminder, we get the following error:

Wrapped javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target Cause: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Just wondering if anyone else is using Siteminder with Navigate. Many thanks in advance!

Community members out there using "PTC ESI" with SAP?

Dear community members

We are in the evaluation process of an interface between Windchill and SAP.

Currently we are reviewing different tools.

We also look for companies introduced PTC ESI and would like to share their experience with the tool.

Perfect would be if the company is located in Germany or in Switzerland.

Thank your for your feedback

Regards,
Marc

Community members out there using "SAP ECC" or have experience?

Dear community members

Second post on the data management/interface topic....

We are in the evaluation process of an interface between Windchill and SAP.

Currently we are reviewing different tools.

Our SAP people opened the discussion about SAP engineering control center.

Are there some individuals like to share their experience with the tool or the evaluation of this tool?

Perfect would be if the company is located in Germany or in Switzerland, but this isn't necessary.

Thank your for your feedback

Regards,

Marc

Need to know how to get the users of multiple role from a Library context and add them as a project manager in the project context

Im using windchill 10.1 M030, We have written a code for creating project automatically based on the lifecycle state of the document. When the document is released, the project will be created by the listener. Now the users are added manually in the respective roles in the project. Instead i wanted to add a particular members of a role from library as a project manager in the project context. Need help with this.

Re: Desktop Integration - Replace content for more files

We have let's say 20 documents in BMP format. It is an export from 2D CAD or scan. After creating a new version of these documents outside the WCH (like new scan etc.) we just need them replace in WCH = replace content on existing BMP by updated BMP (not creating new ones).

Would be nice to replace 20 documents at once via WDI which is not possible atm. My idea was to move 20 files from HDD into WCH folder and WDI will handle them at once. If some filename already exists in WCH then "replace content". If filename doesn't exists then "create new document".

PTC Navigate View will share the same registered users with Windchill? or should be created independantly?

Best Practices for WTPart Associations to WTDocuments?

$

I am wondering what everyone is doing for associating WTParts to WTDocuments...

For example, I am specifically interested in the following use case:

We have a set of WTDocuments that are engineering specifications.  They cover internal standards for painting, plating, etc...  Each one of those WTDocs could potentially be associated to hundreds or thousands of WTParts.  Which seems like it will quickly get clunky and hard to manage...

Questions I have:

  1. Do you currently make associations in the above case?
  2. If so, what permissions are you giving users to be able to associate WTParts to the WTDocument?   The document is at released and we don't want everybody making changes to it...
    1. Okay, I did some testing with my regular user account and was able to associate the WTPart to the WTDocument at Release.  So this may not be an issue.
  3. Do you have an alternate practice instead of associations?

System is Windchill 10.1 m040

Re: Best Practices for WTPart Associations to WTDocuments?

We do associate WT docs like process, material etc to WTP as "Reference documents". these associations are made before releasing WTP.

Also these WT docs are in released state and are stored in library folders in Windchill with modify access only for administrators.

So there is no question of modifying these docs while association since only the WTP will be checked out and has to be checked in after associating.
