Persisting Alias Attribute

$

Hi all,

I have an alias attribute on a WTPart and it is derived from related object through a "Configurable Describe link".

When I share this WTPart to project, the alias attribute on the WTPart (looking from Project) is empty -- The reason is the alias attribute is not persisted.

The need here is to show the alias attribute without sharing the related object to Project.

How to make this work? How to make alias attribute persistable?

Thanks & Regards

Hari

Re: Managing Creo Material Files (.mtl) in Windchill

Do you have any information that you can share? I have some questions.

  1. Do you have a WTPart (CoGPart) for the mtl files?
  2. Do you attach, for example, PDF datasheets for the material to the CoGPart? Do the data sheets have their own CoGPart, are they attachements to the mtl CoGPart or documents in their own right (with or without CoGPart)?
  3. Do you show material parameters on drawings?
  4. Do you designate any of the material parameters to PDMLINK to enable searching, i.e. all parts that use Acetal?
  5. Do you have a seperate OIR, lifecycle etc. for the mtl or CoGParts?

I'm sure there are other questions, but this will do for a start.

Regards

David.

The package of this class is 'com.cisco.whichen2'. That means the class file should be copied into Windchill/codebase/com/cisco/whichen2/

If you're changing the domain name of the Windchill server, then that is considered a rehost. See article CS21652 for more information.

Has anyone seen this error message when using Solidworks WGM to save SW files into PDMLink 10.2?

We've been using Solidworks WGM for several years to manage our SW files alongside Our Creo files - within the last month we are encountering situation where SW files are checked out of PDMLink (10.2), modified, saved in workspace, checked in and modifications disappear - model reverts back to first save made.  Drafter has opened models up multiple times worked on them and saved with no problem, then randomly this happens and all work he thought was saved is gone.  Has anyone else seen this, or had this happen?

"A larger list of the errors.   One thing I noticed is both times after the “error” occured the models are listed as out of SYNC.  Yet nothing was done that should have caused them to become out of sync."

Further information - this situation was actually Inventor files, although it is happening with Solidworks files also...

David, see my answers for few questions:

  1. Do you have a WTPart (CoGPart) for the mtl files?  - NO. As Jim has clearly mentioned in the above posts, we store the .mtl files in our Library and point this location in our config.pro
  2. Do you show material parameters on drawings? NO. We just call out Material Name on drawings.
  3. Do you designate any of the material parameters to PDMLINK to enable searching, i.e. all parts that use Acetal? NO.
  4. Do you have a seperate OIR, lifecycle etc. for the mtl or CoGParts? NO. We as admins put them all in Released State.

I'm seeing two copies of same object in different versions and states?

The object was revised from a lifecycle and the version has successfully changed but when i do a search of the object i see 2 different copies of this object in the search.

Search.PNG

a1.PNG

--1.PNG

The versions are visible to only some groups and the user wants to understand why it behaves so.

The End state of the initial life cycle is Archived;has this got anything to do with the behaviour.

I think I might be wrong.  I just did a custom check in with model and viewables.  (I made sure the background in Creo was some funky color first.)  The thumbnail was definitely created by my server side thumbnail generator, NOT by Creo.  Since it was created server side, the "thumbnail.generator.backcolor" property did take effect.

So, it would appear that when publishing is done on the server side, the Creo View Adapters are creating the thumbnail during representation creation.  When viewables are created as part of check in, thumbnail generation is handled by the stand-alone thumbnail generator.  Either way, I'm betting the property mentioned will do what you want.

To answer your other question, this is a server side property that would need to be set by your site administrator.  Most likely Windchill will need to be restarted for it to take effect.

Windchill 10.2 Keyword search doesn't find Change Request

When searching for a single piece of text in the "Description" section of a Change Request via the Keyword search in Windchill 10.2, the Change Request is not found. Is that expected behavior?

If I search for a single piece of text in the "Name" of a Change Request via the Keyword search in Windchill 10.2, the Change Request IS found.

More information:

As your reply at the bottom alluded to, this setting only controls the background color.  It does not change the other system colors, specifically the one used for "Letter".  More than likely your system color scheme with the blue background is setting letter to yellow and your system color scheme with the white background is setting the letter color to black.

If I change my letter color to yellow and then check in (model and viewables), this is what I see:

I'm trying to see if there is some way to override the user's system color settings during viewable generation, but I haven't found anything yet...

Thumbnail generation can ben enabled in the recipe file on the cad worker and optionally on the local Creo installation.  If enabled, Creo will generate the thumbnail during representation creation.  If not enabled, then the server's thumbnail generator will create the thumbnail after check in.  Either way, the thumbnail is derived from the created representation.  This means what you see in Creo View should match what you see in the thumbnail (except the background color which can be controlled independently.)

Conclusion:  You need the system colors to be consistent during representation creation (Creo View file, PDF, etc.).  Either the users need to work with the same system colors file or you need to switch to publishing on the server side.

Anyone used Rehost Utility 3.0 and do you have documentation, instead of using PTC documentation? Thanks,

A few years back I posted a note promising a full lobster dinner to anyone in PTC management who was actually able to use the utility successfully using PTC's documentation of it - and lots of images of lobsters floated around.  Lots of documentation but not very usable.  I've created some - needs to be refined.

How do you do this Tom?  Are you a God?

You compiled all this stuff so fast, and it's relevant!

After hurting myself with all this learning, it seems I got a much better understanding of what is going on.  Way better than searching the site.

A big thanks to all that chimed in too!  Extremely helpful.

Hopefully we left a trail that may help others in the future.

We are hopefully upgrading our WC soon and I'll put my 2 cents in with regards to having a server side publisher activated but

until then, I guess I'll have to accept the user side publishing for now.

Maybe I'll create mapkeys for them to change back to their favorite scheme after I change it to what I need with the custom check in routine.  Hmmm.....

Thanks again y'all

Re: info*engine implementation how to do , i am newbe in plm as well as winchill

Hi Binesh,

We are using Windchill Info engine task which is used for integration with other data system using SOAP client. However when this info engine task is being invoked we need a way to send the acknowledgement message back to the client if it was successful or not. For eg: When the client requests for download of files from Windchill, the info engine task should send an acknowledgement to the client that the download was successful. Are there any specific webjects to be included in IE task to achieve this. Or what is the correct way of doing it? Please advise.
