I looked at the relations, but I am not sure what I am looking for. Can you be more specific?

Managing Multiple Design Alternatives (ie Design Branching)
In Intralink 3.X there was funcationality called "branching" that would allow an engineer to manage multiple design alternatives (prototypes) of the same part number then finalize on one alternative. In a file/folder environment the typical way to handle this is to duplicate parts into folders to isolate them, explore different scenaros, then incorporate the released one option into the final design.
Consider this basic scenario with a part:
- Bracket with holes has fitment issues
- Engineer would like to try 3 different prototypes but keep the same part number
- One with slots
- One with larger holes
- One with tighter tolerancing
- Engineer chooses the one with slots and Releases
- The other two alternatives are left at WIP, In Work, Prototype, etc.
So my question is what is the best way to handle this in Windchill PDMLink? We are using 10.1.
Let me know if my issue needs more clarification.
Re: windchill zoom in
I thought we had checked that, but as it turns out, this was our problem. The user had the Windows Display setting at Medium - 125%. The logic apparently is inverted in the embedded browser: when the Windows Display font size is enlarged in this manner, the embedded browser font size actually reduces in size. We have not tried your method of changing what the default is (the behind the scenes registry adjustment).

Hi Scott,
Is this utility in working state now for X-24? Does the HTML created need to be adhered with WHC Stylesheet?
I have tried it on X-24 but it say

Re: SolidEdge managed by Windchill
Hello,
I have the same problem in my company with PDMLINK 10.1
I have contacted I-Cubed, the response is
With that said, I-Cubed discontinued the sale of the Solid Edge CAD Integration (CADi) product offering as of August 31, 2011.
As the industry experts in CAD integration to Windchill, we had requests from a small amount of our customers to develop a SolidEdge CAD integration to Windchill based PTC’s workgroup manager. With PTC’s support we developed this product and deployed solution.
The product development effort was focused on Solid Edge ST2 and Windchill 9.1 (M030 & M050) and I-Cubed had received excellent support from PTC and Siemens to develop the integration and provide a road map for continued development support. Over the past 18 months, I-Cubed has not experienced the anticipated demand to support a continuous product development road map and therefore we made the decision to discontinue direct sale of this product.
I-Cubed has maintained a deep history of developing CAD integrations through the Unified Work Group Manager (UWGM) framework for PTC and will continue to provide this type of development as a service offering. However, to maintain a continuous product development lifecycle would require an appropriate demand that has not reflected in the marketplace.
We appreciate your understanding of this difficult product development decision and welcome any questions you may have. For those customers considering translation to another CAD application, supported by the Windchill Compatibility Matrix, I-Cubed is willing to provide support to accomplish your needs during this transition.
After thisresponse, I askedto developa connector forPDMLink10.1
the respose is
As of right now due to the current demand we have closed this window. I know in previous conversation when discussing how many users is necessary to look into developing for Solid Edge and the number was between 150-200 seats. If this is an urgent need and something you would like I-Cubed to look into, let me know and I can set up a call to discuss this further.
Re: Windchill Folder View Customisation
Hi Jorn,
We do customise some of our tables using the technique described. Unfrotunaltey Folder views seem to be fixed. We ideally want to show some of the IBA attributes in folder table.
Thanks,

Create new JSP Site/Link in every CAD Parts & get Promotion Request Approvers
Hello Guys,
At first i want thank everyone for his effort and answers to help me with that kind of "problem".
First Point: What i want to generate is a new "Button/Link" under the "Tab History" in every CAD Part (see screenshot1). Do you have any idea how i can generate that kind of button and link it to the information from the second point?
Second Point: On that JSP should be shown the Routing/Process information from the last Promotion Request (see screenshot2) . Do you have any clue how i can get that Routing/Process information from the last Promotion Request into every CAD Part Page?
Best Regards
Daniel
Info Engine Task Pameters
Is it possible to pass a Vector of objects(other then Strings) as parameters for Info Engine Task ?
Re: Config file problems
I opened a case with PTC on this. They were not of much help, but I ended up figuring out a workaround.
All our config files have the line:
windows_browser_type mozilla_based_browser
After removing this line, the problem went away for the user. Firefox was installed on this particular machine, but perhaps it was an old version... or some other issue.
In any case, the reason this config option was set to begin with was because our reseller suggested it to improve performance with Windchill:
"The reason we usually recommend setting the browser to Mozilla in Wildfire 5 / Creo Elements Pro 5 is that with systems running Internet Explorer 7 or 8 it performs noticeably faster and is typically more stable with Windchill 10.1. In fact for many of our customers it corrects issues with lock-ups. If your systems were updated to Internet Explorer 9 or 10, then using Internet Explorer would be better, and is actually much better with IE 10. However, according to PTC IE 10 is only supported on Windows 8 systems."
Clearly in this case it was causing the lock-ups, so I have removed it and now everything works fine!

Re: SolidEdge managed by Windchill
As Windchill developers we were asked to look at implementing this for a project that is now on hold until the end of this year. We looked closely at it and believed it to be feasible and provided some estimates, however there is a difference in making a generic product that satisfies most user requirements and making a solution for a single client.
Re: Config file problems
I believe that the mozilla-based-browser here is not whatever nice, new Firefox you might have installed, but rather Gecko libraries shipped with Wildfire/Creo. Thus I don't think it matters which Firefox you have or haven't installed, but rather which Wildfire/Creo version you're using and how up-to-date they've managed to get the Gecko libraries therein.
Store output generated from PublishRules.xml
Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to store the output which is generated from publishing. For example I can publish a WTPart to an IGES and STEP. We want to store the generated STEP in folder /Default/STEP and the IGES in /Default/IGES.
For <post-publish> there is the option "folder". But this always generate a PVZ and is also not working for multi-output. Is there any option like this we can use in the <additional-files> section or is there any other possibility to do this?
Thanks1

bulk load EPMDocuments
Experts,
I have a load of .asm and associated .prts, .dwgs etc on my local harddisk.
Is there a way to bulkload these (and thereby create EPMDocs with contents) and associate pre-created WTParts to them.
Thanks in advance,
Ravin
Get Part Information where i am on for JSP Site
Hello Guys,
i created a customized subtab with a link to a new created JSP Site. On that page i want to show some additional informations which i get from the class which i have written for that actions. It works fine for simple return functions. But now i want to pass the Part to the functions, but how do i get the WTPart Information from the current Part Page where i am on?
Thank you for help in advance
Best Regards,
Daniel
Re: bulk load EPMDocuments
You can import all them to Workspace.
Go to your active workspace in Pro/E embedded browser.
Go to Tools=> Import.
In this Import UI you can browse the local hardisc CAD content and say import.
Later you need to check in these imported CAD parts.
Re: Windchill Folder View Customisation
Ste,
So what you are talking about is the folder tree view to the left - and not the table to the right where you only see one level at the time? Because in the one to the right one I think you *can* add IBA's as described above. We have not done it on folders but on documents.
If so it looks like something that is hard to do. Of course you can always enable the JCA debugging and see if you can somehow implement your own custom version of the OOTB classes if they are . E.g. If you append &jcaDebug=true to your folder infoPage e.g. http://yourwindchillhost/Windchill/app/#ptc1/tcomp/infoPage?oid=OR%3Awt.folder.SubFolder%3A44456920&u8=1&ContainerOid=OR:wt.inf.library.WTLibrary:44456024&jcaDebug=true you can see the class names PTC use.
EBOM creation from a CAD BOM
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have a best practice on how to efficiently create a matching WTPart EBOM from an existing CAD ASSEMBLY BOM
in Windchill 10.1?
I'm basically looking for the easiest and fastest way to achieve this. I also would like it to collect all associated drawings as well.
As an FYI we would also use the same part number and descriptor as well from the CAD part number so we would not have to renumber
anything etc.
Thanks in advance for any help in this.
Regards
Paul
